The NorNet project will cooperate with the RIPE Network Coordination Centre (NCC). Our soon-to-be-installed NorNet site at the Universitetet på Svalbard will also host a RIPE Atlas measurement node (see picture below).
RIPE NCC is building the largest Internet measurement network ever made. RIPE Atlas employs a global network of probes that measure Internet connectivity and reachability, providing an unprecedented understanding of the state of the Internet in real time. These probes perform ping, traceroute, DNS and SSL certificate measurements around the clock and send this data to the RIPE NCC, where it is aggregated and presented in the form of Internet maps, graphs and other results.
