Now, the NorNet Core site at the Universitetet på Svalbard (UNIS) in Longyearbyen has been connected to Telenor as its second ISP. Establishing this connection has been a challenging and time-consuming task, due to the very remote location of Longyearbyen at 78.2°N. But now, the research nodes at the UNIS site provide researchers the northernmost multi-homed research endpoints, in a distance of just about 1300 km from the North Pole.
